Frequently asked questions

Everything about blurring and redacting images with PixKit.

How do I blur or redact part of an image?+
Drop your image in, open the Redact tool, pick a style (Pixelate, Blur or Black box), and drag a box over the area to hide. Repeat for each area, then download.
Is the redaction permanent and safe?+
Pixelate and Black box permanently overwrite the pixels, so the hidden content cannot be recovered from the exported image. Blur is softer and meant for cosmetic hiding. Export the image to flatten the changes in.
Can I censor faces or license plates?+
Yes — that’s exactly what it’s for. Use Pixelate or Black box over faces, names, license plates, addresses or any private detail.
Are my images uploaded?+
No. Redaction runs entirely in your browser, so sensitive images never leave your device — and it works offline.

Free online image redactor

PixKit lets you blur or redact parts of an image for free, entirely in your browser. Drag a box over anything you want to hide — a face, a name, an address, a license plate, a signature — and choose pixelate, blur, or a solid black box. Stack as many redactions as you need, with full undo.

Irreversible by design

Pixelate and black box permanently replace the pixels, so the hidden content can’t be recovered from the exported file — the safest choice for sensitive information. Blur is best for a softer, cosmetic hide.

Private — nothing uploaded

All redaction happens locally on your device. Your image is never sent to a server, which matters most exactly when you’re hiding sensitive details. Export as PNG, JPG or WebP to flatten the redactions in.
