Frequently asked questions

Common questions about the PixKit QR code generator.

Is this QR code generator really free?+
Yes. PixKit is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks, and no usage limits.
Does my data get uploaded anywhere?+
No. QR codes are generated 100% locally in your browser. The text or URL you enter never leaves your device.
What can I encode in a QR code?+
Anything that fits in text — website links, plain text, email addresses, phone numbers, Wi-Fi credentials, or vCard contact details all work.
How do I download the QR code?+
After clicking Generate, the QR code becomes the working image. Use the export button in the top bar to download it as a PNG, WebP, or JPG.
Why does it need the served app to work?+
The generator loads a small QR library from a CDN, which browsers block on the file:// protocol. Launch start.command and open the app in your browser to enable it.

Generate QR codes privately, right in your browser

PixKit turns any URL, text, contact detail, or Wi-Fi string into a high-resolution QR code without sending a single byte to a server. The QR is rendered directly onto the canvas, so you can export it as a PNG, WebP, or JPG and use it anywhere — print, slides, packaging, or the web.

Adjustable size and quality

Choose a size from 128 px up to 1024 px so your code stays sharp whether it lands on a business card or a billboard. A built-in margin (quiet zone) control keeps scanners happy, and the high-resolution output scales cleanly for print.

Error correction you control

Pick from four error-correction levels (L, M, Q, H). Higher levels add redundancy so the code still scans even if part of it is damaged, covered, or printed over a busy background — handy when you place a logo or design behind it.
